"For her the ocean was more than a dream, it was a place she needed to visit to find herself.”
Hi, I’m Amanda—a wife, mom, teacher, and beach dreamer at heart.
I’m currently raising two beautiful babes, Hunter King and Emersyn Rose, with my best friend and husband on the East Coast. Our story began on the island of Oʻahu, where I fell in love, built the foundation of our ‘ohana, and became a mother. Though we’ve since returned to New Jersey, a piece of my heart will always be in Hawaiʻi—with the white sandy beaches, palm trees, and rhythm of the waves never far from my thoughts.
By day, I’m an 8th grade language arts teacher with a master’s degree in teaching and another in school administration/supervision. After 3 o’clock, I’m a full-time mom navigating the beautiful chaos of family life. Our days are full—sports practices/games, school events, and everything in between—but I’ve found strength and joy in the juggle, even when it gets messy.
Outside the classroom, I’m passionate about storytelling and sharing real moments from this season of life. Through writing about motherhood, teaching, and the spaces where they overlap, my hope is to uplift, connect, and encourage others walking similar paths.
Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here.
For so long I had turned my back on the ocean, but when I needed her, she was there. She became my source of solace; a place I routinely visited to find out who I was meant to be. When I visited Oahu in 2010, I finally felt at peace. It is where I fell even more in love with the ocean: she was both enchanting and tranquil. The sound of her waves inspired me. I decided to move to the island in the middle of the sea to start over. The ocean became a friend of mine after years of disregarding her call. It is during that time where she reminded me who I was. She has since fueled my passions. The ocean has, in a way, helped shape the person I am today. Without her, I may still be lost.
